Children's Folk Dance  Club

民族舞蹈社

Welcome!

The club was formed in 1992 with the support of a group of enthusiastic parents.  This group was formed with the purpose of bringing Chinese dance and culture to young Chinese Americans growing up in this area, along with sharing the beauty and richness of the Chinese culture, arts and heritage with the general public.

The teacher and choreographer is Chin-Siu Lee Choi.    Mrs. Choi is the director of the Fairfax Chinese Dance Troupe in Fairfax , VA , established in 1988.  The club manager is Patty Yang .  The dancers range in age from 8 to 17 from the tri-state area (DE, MD, & PA).    Practice is held weekly on Sunday afternoon after a long afternoon in Chinese School at CACC.  Some of the girls have been with the club since its inception, while many are new this year.

This club has performed on various occasions at many special events including the Grand Opera House, The Playhouse Theatre, National Theatre (Washington , DC), & the annual Chinese New Years celebrations and Chinese Festival at CACC.  During the summer of 2000, they participated in 2 weeks of grand performances in Taiwan.  Individual members have performed at various events at local communities, colleges, schools, shops & hospitals.  Most recently they performed at the Chrysanthemum Festival at Longwood Gardens & the annual Newark Arts Alliance's Delaware Dance Festival.
